    Cropping A4 Pic Problem

Using version 4.10 on Windows XP with Service Pack 2

    Open a A4 scanned picture.
When cropping or copying part of the picture the cropped or copied section is not the same area that was selected.
The top of the area cropped starts above the top of the area selected and the bottom of the cropped area is finishes a similar distace above the bottom of the selected area.

I do not have this problem with version 3.98

The file is to large to uplaod onto this site

A copy can be downloaded from

Is it possible you made your selection with the image beeing displayed smaller than 100 % ?

I don't want to pay to download this file nor to wait 60 s before to be able to donwnload it.

Because it is A4 size I do zoom out so that I can see the section of the picture that I want on the screen.

I then select the area & use the crop feature.
This works in version 3.98 giving me a cropped area as selected.

The same process does not give a cropped area as selected using version 4.1

The picture is a scanned page from a street directory scanned at 600 DPI

I am open to other suggestions of posting a copy of the file.

        Hi mudraker,

does not give a cropped area as selected
What kind of cropped area do you get instead?

If the zoom out factor is 10, then you have to expect a difference of 10 pixels on the position of each border of the cropped zone with respect to what you had in mind.

There's no need to post an image. The same will happen with any large image.

It is a well known bug related to this one

Zoom to 100% is the only work around I currently know of.

            Thanks for the info.
I would have been very surprised if the problem was not known.

Posted the thread as no other post seemed to describe the problem I was facing
