    Vista Lockup

I'm running Irfanview (ver 4.10) on an HP Laptop. I have SP1 for Vista, 3MB of Ram, and everything seems to be running fine - never had a crash except when using Irfanview.

I have had Vista completely lock up my laptop to the point where nothing would work and I have to hold the Power Button down to Exit. This has happened about five times over the last two weeks and I've been trying to see what is common.

So far it appears to happen when running a slide show. It also happened when using Thumbnails from the main menu bar - yet after two consecutive crashes it worked the next time.

I love Irfanview and use it all the time but I've never run into anything like this before. Any thoughts?

    Check your RAM with memtest86+.

The latest stable IrfanPaint version is the 0.4.13.70.
IrfanPaint is now open-source (released under BSD license).

I've checked memory - all OK.

Also, this has not happened at all with any other app other than Irfanview. I have to believe it is related.

I have and use Paint Shop Pro for serious editing, also have MS Office, Word Perfect, Google Earth, etc - all work fine with NO lock ups.
