IPTC in Nikon NEF disappears afetr adding GPS data

    Hello,

If i modify a Nikon NEF file (in my case, obtained with a D40X) to include GPS data, when the file with the new datat si saved, Irfanview does not see anymore the IPTC data, but with other programs I can see that IPTC data are still present and readable (i.e. with PhotoME, Nikon Capture NX, Nikon View). To insert GPS data I use Geosetter (http://www.geosetter.de).

Being the IPTC readable with many other programs, after adding GPS data, but only Irfanview does not show them, I think that there's a bug in Irfanview.

Many thanks in advance for any help.

    Solved by V4.20

Well, I just installed V4.20 and discovered that the problem disappeared!

Now IPTC fields in Nikon NEF file are perfectly viewable.

    Thanks!

Lots of succes with your Nikon D40x. Did you read about this camera here already? (Ken Rockwell)

        Right

I have a great respect to Ken opinions: he's a disenchanted observer of the protographic world. He's also right about D40 and D40X. I choose the D40x just because I had a very good price over this model.

I'm very happy with it. Equipped with the 18-200 VR lens, it's still small and easy to carry everywhere.
