Converting PSP files for use as layers in Photoshop

Is there a format I can save PSP files as in Infranview so I can open them up to use as layers in Adobe Photoshop?

IrfanView does not support layers at all.

I guess you'll need PaintShop Pro for this, maybe it has such an export function.

There is indeed an easy export option in Paint Shop Pro. Open up the layers palette, then select each layer and drag it to a free spot on the workspace. Then do Save As for each new single layer image.

Does it support transparencies? I can't find my PSP c.d. for my new laptop, and was hoping to find something simpler when I find tubes online.

Every layer can have its own setting of transparency.
Better find that CD, because afaik tubes are a specific PSP attribute.

Of course it has transparency support. However, at least version 7, is not able to save or load the alpha channel from PNG. To save transparent PNGs, use the Export > PNG Optimizer function instead of Save.
