Can I somehow set irfanview not to try to show not supported files in a directory? Pretty annoying when you have pictures and non-image file in the same dir and when you browse them with irfanview you have to press OK on the error window whenever irfanview tries to load a non-image file.

All the files browsable by IrfanView are supported. If you are getting an error, you may not have particular plugins, system components, or the correct settings.
If you do want to ignore certain files simply goto:
Options>Properties/Settings>Extensions
Choose either Load only associated types while moving through directory or Load custom file types. If you choose the latter, then edit the text box by adding or deleting extensions. You can empty the box and type what you want. Make sure you put a pipe (|) between each. -
