    Shortcut Backup

    Hi guys,

i wonder if there is a way to use a shortcut, to copy files from a location and paste them into another location

I have heard it has been done but not sure if it is complicated or not?

    thanks in advance

Sure it's possible. I am surprised you haven't utilized this handy feature. A shortcut can act as a "tunnel" to the target folder or file.

Simply copy files and right-click the shortcut to choose paste. Alternatively, you can drag files to the shortcut and drop them on the shortcut. Right-dragging will produce a tiny choice menu. CTRL+dragging will copy directly (plus sign appears) unless the destination is another drive which copies automatically. You can also use SHIFT for move (files automatically moved on same drive) or ALT+drag (shortcut sign appears) to create a shortcut. Basically, the process works just like working with folders in Windows Explorer or a folder tree.

Dragging a file to a program or it's shortcut will also open your file in that program.
