Requested Display the frame rate a movie is actually playing at

    Can Irfanview do this?

Display the frame rate a movie is actually playing at?

If not does anyone know of a player which can?

I need to know if a machine we're using is actually playing a 30fps movie file at 30fps or if its playing it slower than it should be.

    Many thanks for any thoughts.

DirectShow players, such as BSPlayer or MPLAYER2.EXE can show the frame rate achieved. Just call up the properties of the Video Renderer filter and see for yourself. This field will often show near 24 fps for movies which say they are 30 fps, because there are only so many actual encoded frames in the file per second. You'll need to play the file for a while undisturbed for the value to settle.

The KMPlayer (not to be confused with KMPlayer) does this as well. Just start the movie, then hit TAB to display info on your screen.

I would like the capability too, but being a bit more realistic, I am pretty sure it is not IrfanView that plays movie files, but one of the plug-ins that may be called when using IrfanView as a front-end.

If IrfanView does not actually play movies, then how can you place a requirement on a plug-in that Irfan has almost no control over?
