    Batch Rename

    I often use IrfanView to rename files. (I know there are more sophisticated programs to do that, but I use the one I'm used to.) This used to run perfectly as long as I was working under WIN 98 (as far as I remember).

    In the newer versions (of IrfanView or Windos, I'm not quite sure), this goes wrong, when I rename the original files:

    The first file get's the upper index and the renaming process starts with the second file, i.e.

    01.jpg -> new_5.jpg
    02.jpg -> new_1.jpg
    03.jpg -> new_2.jpg
    04.jpg -> new_3.jpg
    05.jpg -> new_4.jpg

    This forces me to make tricky computings in order to just have to rename one file.

    Use the "move up" or "move down" buttons to rearrange the list before starting the batch.
    Its: Belongs to "It"
    It's: Shortened form of "It is"
    ---------------------
    Lose: Fail to keep
    Loose: Not tight

    ---------------------
    Plurals do not require apostrophes

      This is an old windoze bug. So no fault of IrfanView.
      If you want to add the list in the correct order in some batch dialog, you have to start to select the last file in the open-list and then do a Shift-select on the first one of the row. Then you import the correct order.

          Yep. It took me > a year to discover this workaround, because it irritated me. It's also valid for slideshows or playlists.
