    Edit Palette Problem 4.1, 3.99

I was wanting to edit the palette for a .png and a .bmp. So I select edit palette, double click the colour I wanted to edit and get a colour chooser menu.

At this point I wanted to enter a custom colour, but the rgb boxes don't allow entry of more than 2 digits. Even though they load showing up to the full 3 digits you'd expect, you can't edit the boxes to contain more than 2 digits. I thought perhaps it was wanting a hex value, but the boxes don't accept alpha's. The same is true for the HSL boxes on the page.

I am sure this used to work, so I loaded up 3.99, but this didn't work either (it must have been a while ago that I last needed palette editing!)

Apologies if this is not a bug, but I just found it to be unexpected behaviour...

    Can't confirm this.
And, afaik, this color dialog is windoze based, not one of IrfanView.

Something wrong with Windwoes, I think. My color dialog acts normal, all boxes accept three digits - if I am allowed to edit the palette...

This reminds me that I have neglected this feature
      Its: Belongs to "It"
It's: Shortened form of "It is"
      ---------------------
      Lose: Fail to keep
      Loose: Not tight

      ---------------------
      Plurals do not require apostrophes

        Me too. I wondered :
        ~ What's this refresh button doing ?
~ As export, would such a .pal file be compatible with the one used in fractal files?

        @ tad
Maybe this custom colour dialog still was also opened by another app ?

          <<sigh>>

          Thanks for your help guys.

Broken xp it is then! quell surprise...

and no, Sam, there was no other dialog open.

I can't see anything immediately obvious on a google search, for bug in the color dialog with xp, so I will have to live with it for now!

          Cheers,

          Tad.

It is very nearly the same as the *.map files used by FractInt, just three lines more at the beginning.

Yep, I noticed in the meantime. Not only those three lines, but a .map can have comments too.
I've got quite a big collection of map-files. Maybe I will convert them to pal-files to make a library.

That would be fun to play with! I should find out where I stashed my old collection. Now we have a new distraction. I am thinking that with MAP generators (I have a couple) one could create palettes with image changing in mind. LOL - we're getting OT enough for a new thread soon.
