How to remove file type icon on image

How to remove file type icon on image?
When you view thumbnails you see a file type icon on the image. In this case PNG.
How to not see this displayed?

I don't see them. There is a Windows Explorer view setting to show/hide them. Mine is enabled, but I still don't see them.

I am using Windows 10 64bit. I have in your screenshot matched yours with no change.
If I open a folder using Windows File Explorer there is no file extension display icon. This only happens in XYplorer 23.70.0300
This is for any image and video file but not a word doc or text file.

I don't know why you're asking here, then. Why not ask on the XY Explorer forums?

Could it be as shown in the XYplorer Quick Start Guide

Icon Overlays: To show shell icon overlays in Tree and List simply tick Configuration | General | Refresh, Icons, History | Icons | Show icon overlays.

As Bhikkhu Pesala indicates, it's nothing to do with IrfanView

Thanks for helping. That probably was the fix but it did not work for me. I opened Xyplorer as admin and made the change, I also restarted the computer. Same issue. This was a new install from a few weeks ago. I uninstalled and downloaded the latest and installed again but same issue. I then installed an older version 19.80.0100 and the icon overlay is gone.

I had a few weeks back upgraded my pc from Windows 7 to Windows 10 and had other issues with other programs so this may be just another one.
If I had done a clean install of Windows 10 then this may not have happened
