Reported no notification that EXIF data will not be saved when using "Save as" (tif)

Windows XP, IrfanView 4.33, PC platform
Test files can be provided, but should not be needed given the nature of this item.

In the Save-as dialog there is no notification to the user that the EXIF (and IPTC) data will not be saved.

This happens even when the information dialog (Image->Information) shows EXIF and/or IPTC data. It is a reasonable assumption on the user's part that the information will be stored in the new save-as format, or even when the format is the same (i.e. tif -> tif). There needs to be some notification to the user that EXIF data contained in the original will not be saved to the new file.

The simple resolution to this is to include text in the save format specific option dialog that says something to the effect of "Original EXIF data will not be stored in the new file."

While this statement is most important for those formats for which IrfanView supports reading EXIF, but not writing, it should also be in such option dialogs for all save formats which general support EXIF, but for which IrfanView does not support writing the non-changed EXIF tags from the original file.

Hmmm... perhaps a better place for such notification would be just below the "Save as type" selection line. That way it is shown even if the options dialog is not displayed. Alternately, it could be in the "Save as type" selection list.
Working...
