Requested DCF-Format for slideshow on LCD-TV

Today LCD-TV´s offer the feature to display pictures stored on SD-card or USB-stick. I checked Panasonic and Sony; they display pictures only if they come directly from the camera, i.e. if the pictures are modified on a PC in contrast or brightness or somewhat else, the TV recognizes the file but gives no display. The files are JPG out of the camera and they are stored as JPG after modification. Panasonic and Sony specify that the JPG has to comply with the DCF-standard.
I know that the name of the top directory must be DCIM, and I know the requirements for the names of the sub-directories and filenames. The problem is the picture-file itself.

Is storing a JPG-file according the DCF-standard a still missing feature?
