Now that transparency is supported in the Paint plugin it seems that that would also would allow the addition of having 'transparency'', or should I say 'translucency', on filter application.
For me I was thinking of this functionality with Photoshop filters, but of course it would also be good for other filters.
For clarity: What I mean is applying a filter but having the original image remain partially visible so that when a filter is too aggressive it can be applied partially.
Only issue is that you would have to define the requested amount of transparency before calling the filter (or after I suppose). But then you would have to remember to set it back to default again so it would not be set the next time you used a filter. So perhaps have an (optional) automatic reset after applying a filter.
Still though, even with such issues it could be useful.
