As it seems not supported right now, I would like to discuss first, if there would be a possible show-stopper:
For some cases I take photos both in *.raw and *.jpg format and switching during the day to either of them. To rename files, it would be great to rename them depending on the creation time but if two files with the same name but different file extension are existing, the counter should not go up. I found the sidecar files option, but this does not effect the batch rename. (Thus there must already be the function to detect such files, but it is not in the batch rename dialog).
P.S.: Example for better understanding:
IMG1004.JPG -> date_0001.JPG
IMG1004.CR3 -> date_0001.CR3
IMG1005.JPG-> date_0002.JPG
IMG1006.JPG-> date_0003.JPG
IMG1007.CR3-> date_0004.CR3
IMG1008.CR3-> date_0005.CR3
IMG1009.JPG-> date_0006.JPG
IMG1009.CR3-> date_0006.CR3
