    Transparent background?

    Hello,

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to cut a paste a selection from a jpeg for posting into a Powerpoint presentation, keeping the background transparent? That is, when I paste the selection in it has a white background which looks horrible on the blue background of my presentation!

    Many thanks,
    Gordon

JPEG does not support transparency. You may use PNG for transparent pictures. Transparency support in IrfanView is quite limited. It allows to set a single solid color as transparent.
    My system: IrfanView 4.62 64bit, Windows 10 22H2, Intel Core i5-3570, 16GB RAM, NVidia GTX 1050Ti 4GB

I used to be able to set the transparent colour when saving a png but I can't remember how.
Can someone help me out please.

The options are on the Save as PNG dialog. Chose the main window colour, or pick on transparent colour on save.
