When I open a recent file in my 12k+ directory, Irfanview freezes for 30+ seconds. I see in searching this was a 2013-14 problem. It's back. (yes, turning off "View other files in folder (moving/browsing through folder; thumbnails window)" does prevent the problem.
If the directory were uploaded in the background, it would not be very visible - assuming the user edits the file he just loaded for 30+ seconds.
