Using a static-image processing tool to generate movies ... not a very good match. I don't think that IV is really the hammer for your blow-torch needs.
What would I use to do that?
- I think VLC has some capabilities in that direction. There's a hint in the long name that it is intended for working with VIDEO files.
- My brief uses of the Gimp (too complex for my needs!) tells me little, but I think it has video-like options for "multi-page images".
- I frequently get what purports to be a "video slideshow", but turns out to be a PowerPoint - and when I used Windows, that would prompt malware activity as Micro$oft attempted to force me to buy their software. Opening it in LibreOffice Impress allows me to separate the images from the malware, but these days I just refuse such files.
Not really sure that I can help you more. I stopped experimenting with the "slideshow" function when it's EXEcutable files wouldn't run on a friend's Mac. Though MP4 does sound like it should be suitably cross-platform, what are the file sizes like compared to, say, sending the images alone, with a README.txt saying "Look at in this order ..." and zipping the load?Ah, that's where the .SIG file lives.
