Solved Text Tool inserts checkerboard text

Hello,

Whenever I insert a text on a .png image using the Text Tool in Paint dialog, the inserted text has a checkerboard pattern inside. I'm using Irfanview 4.70 64bit on Win10 22H2. This does not happen on a .jpg image. Irfanview 4.67 64bit worked with no flaw.

Is there an option that needs to be changed to make Irfanview 4.70 work like 4.67?

Probably something to do with your source image. Are you using an empty path for the text, or some other setting?

Hi Bhikkhu,

Thank you for your reply, my issue stems from the newly added "alpha layer/transparent color" feature. I just deleted the "alpha layer" using "image>Edit or Set alpha layer/transparency color" dialog and the text appear as normal. I also found setting "handle alpha layer" option in "properties>viewing" to "apply..." or "ignore..." instead of the default "keep..." would stop the irfanview to automatically create alpha layer on each png image I open.
