Possible to view images in order of date and not image name?

I'm looking for some pics and I don't know their names but I know their approximate date modified. In a folder with a lot of pics. I'm wondering if irfan can be set to cycle through images by date, not name. Windows picture viewer used to be able to do this, but no longer.

If irfan cannot, can someone recommend an image viewer that can?

Yes Irfanview can do that. Just look through the menus and you'll find it.
