    You do not have to create a .bat file. You can type it directly into one of the three External editor boxes in the Properties dialog as
    explorer "/n,/select,"%1
    You can find that in the Help file under Options menu > Properties,Miscellaneous. It also tells you there how to do the same thing with Total Commander. In addition read how to create a lot more External Editors if you are already using all those in the dialog. The External Editors all have their own Keyboard shortcuts and the one that links to Explorer can be pressed just about anywhere in Irfanview (even in a slideshow) to show the current image file location.

    Then of course you have the built in option of pressing T any time in the Browsing window to open Irfanview's Thumbnail viewer which displays the whole folder directory tree down the left hand side showing you where your image is located.
