    Good evening,

while enjoying greatly irfanview for a decade or more, i encounter problems with some .dcm files, e.g. the following image:

There is not a lot anyone can do with a screen shot of the image displayed in IrfanView. To attach unsupported file types, zip them first.

      Allright, Sir :-)

      Allright, Sir,

but these files exceed the upload limit. Would you have the favour or, would anyone else interested in this case, like to download it from https://we.tl/zswrtgSnzf, please?

      Thanks in advance :-)

The file apparently displays correctly in XnView. I sent a bug report to Irfan Skiljan.

Thank you very much. It appears also correctly in Radiant, a medical dicom viewer, as i can say now. Thank you again and have a good day :-)

Irfan Skiljan replied. He is using an old (third-party) plugin, and no updates are available.

Use another program for this file type is the best advice.

Thank you very much again. As you have seen, these are .dcm files from a dental modality. As anyone experiences by far more x-rays from the dentist than from hospitals or other practioners (albeit the x-ray dose there is 10-fold lower in general :-) ), it might be of general interest to handle these files.

Would it be possible to locate the exact difficulty to display these files correctly? I suggest that the original file includes a kind of transfer function with respect to brightness and/or contrast, but i may be wrong.

Presumed the plug-in-converter for .dcm has served his time, would it be feasible to find a newer one?

Have a good evening and many thanks

What's wrong with using XnView for this? (or Radiant)

This is a really specialised task.

I would like to enjoy the comfort of staple processing in IV, as i am accustomed to it, image search, rename, and so on. I have oftenly taught that IV is the best solution to crack any file ;-). I will try some sort of cross-over-processing with XnView, and i will report about the results.

Thx a lot, and have a good evening
