    Help with pixelize

I would like to convert some images to what I think is called a "pixelated" version. I discovered the Pixelize function. I ran it on an image that the Image Properties dialog said was

Compression: JPEG, quality: 91, subsampling ON (2x2)
    Resolution: blank
    Original size: 900 x 900 Pixels (1:1)
    Current size: 900 x 900 Pixels (1:1)
    Print size (from DPI) 31.7 x 31.7 cm; 12.50 x 12.50 inches
Original colors: 16,7 Million (24 BitsPerPixel)
Current colors: 16,7 Million (24 BitsPerPixel)
    Number of unique colors: 19849
Disk size: 52.92 KB (54,191 Bytes)
After I ran Pixelize, I got an image that had 180 x 180 pixels. And believe me, counting them was a chore! All of the properties were the same as before except for the number of colors, which changed to 30865 and the disk size, which changed to 70.64 KB (72,331 Bytes).

Why did IV choose 180x180 as the number of pixels?

Is there any way to set the number of pixels to a different number?

Is there any way to get the pixels to be one solid color?

    Thanks

Presumably, you set the Pixelize Effects slider to 5 because 900/5 = 180.

I didn't intentionally or knowingly set it to anything as I wasn't aware of it. I just opened the image and, on the recommendation of someone else, clicked on Image | Effects | Pixelize.

After studying your thumbnail, I was able to find the Image Effects dialog. From there, clicking on Pixelize brings up that slider and it is indeed set to 5.

Thanks for the pointer. It would have been even more helpful if you had mentioned how to get to it (Ctrl+e).
