start folder not set to current working directory

I have "Options/Properties/Start Exit options/Set program start folder" set to "None" but IrfanView always opens the last used folder. I often run IrfanView from the command line and expect the start folder to be the current working directory. I noticed this behavior change when I upgraded from 32 bit v4.25 to to 64 bit v4.44.

    How are you launching IrfanView?

If I set the startup folder to None, the default folder is wherever I opened an image from by double-clicking the image. If I then launch IrfanView from its shortcut, the last used folder becomes the default.

I am launching from a command line alias. If your shell does not support aliases you would have to enter i_view64.exe.
