Requested Heften-Funktion zum überlappenden Zusammenfügen von Grafiken

    Hallo,

(M$-Eigenwilligkeiten.)

    Gruß

In my opinion, this is way beyond the scope of an image viewer.

The free Image Composite Editor will do this task very easily.

Yes, indeed. But far beyond an image viewer is the panaroma picture function as well. I think it should depend on the needs of the users.

The panorama picture function required very little programming. Stitching images is an entirely different and much more complex task. Even ICE does not do it perfectly with 64-bit access to loads of RAM and modern CPUs.

Affinity Photo from Serif does a better job, but that's not free.

I think users should choose software depending on their needs. No one program can do everything. IrfanView is an awesome utility that everyone should have in their toolbox, but it's not a RAW photo-editor capable of working with 16-bits per channel images, High Dynamic Range image merging, or photo stitching.

Trying to build such sophisticated features to make it a fully-fledged photo-editing suite would destroy it, and with only one developer, it's never going to happen.

Hugin is a stable, versatile, cross-platform and open source program for this. The already mentioned Microsoft's one also works well.

MS ICE seems to be not a replacement for iPhoto Express "Heften" function

BTW: I tested now this MS ICE, but it could not "stich" graphics together that were not of identical size (just graphics dimensions).

You must be doing something wrong. As long as there is sufficient overlap it can stitch images of different pixel dimensions together.

Thank you for your hint. I will give it another try.
