Solved Any settings for edge detection effect?

    Hi,

I'm looking for increasing the readability of a photographed text. Specifically also, I'm looking for smoothing the edge detection effect by increasing the detected edge width or to increase the width of the new replacement edge. The effect which I'm looking for can be well reproduced on my BB Z30, see below. It removes the (non-white and non-uniform) background and keeps the letters in "one piece" by detecting edges. It's almost like a scanned image on our company printer

The whiteboard effect on a BB Z30 (auto-adjust + whiteboard):

The best I came close with IrfanView using edge detection effect, converting all channels and auto-adjusting colours:

Here is another test, which increases readability of the text, but does not remove the background grey (auto-adjust colours and sharpen image):

Any other ideas, how to increase readability of a photographed text, please?

IMO applying a Gamma Correction (Shift G) of 4-5 is the easiest method.

Decreasing colour depth to 2 (black/white) also gives a kind of readable result.
