Hello all. I'm looking for general help on how to create a hexagon shape by tiling a triangle cut out from an existing picture, kaleidoscope style, each triangle rotated 60 degrees.
Background: I am designing knitting patterns that are worked from the center out. The pattern is a triangle-shaped grid that the knitter will repeat six times, effectively making a symmetrical hexagon.
While it's easy enough to draw the triangle shaped grid, I'm having a lot of problems trying to tile it into a complete hexagon to see if the design works / tiles seamlessly etc. When designing square or rectangle tiling patterns, I can use Irfan View's tiling feature for this.
How would I go about tiling triangles into hexagons?
