    Recent folders default

    The File>Save As dialog defaults to <c:\users\myname\pictures\> . I want to revise it to the current or different folder. However, the dialog won't open unless I view a file and save it -- but I don't want to save it, just choose a different folder. Please tell me how to get out of this quandary.

    Thanks

    Not elegant, but you can edit the ini-file

    I find that I don't have to close IrfanView for this to take effect.

      There is no ini file in the default folder named C:\DATA\PICTURES, and the directory named C:\Program Files\IrfanView contains one ini file named i_view64.ini that is two weeks old with the contents,

      [Others]
      INI_Folder=%APPDATA%\IrfanView

      Also, no image is saved to either of those locations.

      Further, I find that if I change the setting from <c\users\myname\pictures\> to <c:\data\directoryname\>, the setting reverts to its default when I view a fresh picture.

      Please advise how to fix this problem.

      Thanks

        Type or copy %APPDATA%\IrfanView into the windows explorer.

        It will take you to the folder with the actual ini-file

        PS: Best to make a backup of the ini-file before editing
