IPTC & EXIF not saved converting TIFF to JPG

Thanks for a great product, I use it constantly. I was excited to see support for IPTC in TIFF files. I was, however, disappointed when I discovered that when a TIFF file containing EXIF and IPTC data is saved to JPG, none of the EXIF and IPTC data gets copied to the JPG file.

I opened a TIFF file containing both IPTC and EXIF data.
I selected "Save As", with file type JPG.
I checked "Keep original EXIF data", and "Keep original IPTC data"
    Saved the file.

Examining the JPG file, there is no EXIF button. There is an IPTC button, but all the data is empty. Checking with other applications, no IPTC or EXIF data exists.

In a similar way, data is lost saving from TIFF to TIFF
    and from JPG to TIFF.

    Thank You for your attention

Are you using the RIOT plugin to save the JPG file at a set size?

Can you attach a sample TIFF image or post a link to one?

RIOT.dll is installed, but I am not sure what I need to do to use it.

Attached is a sample tiff file.

BTW: the RIOT.dll link in the reply to my message is an invalid link

It doesn't seem to matter what the settings are, the EXIF is not carried over from tiff to jpeg -- I just tried it. I used a tiff created with FastStone from a recent photo. Opened it in IV, read the EXIF. Then saved as JPG with the keep-EXIF checked. Did it a couple of times, also with all the other keep-its checked. No EXIF.

vtag -- to use the RIOT plugin, you either have to call it from the File menu -- save for web -- or check the Set file size box in the JPG save options dialog.
        Its: Belongs to "It"
It's: Shortened form of "It is"
        ---------------------
        Lose: Fail to keep
        Loose: Not tight

IrfanView does not transfer metadata accross formats. Use RIOT for this, but make sure you open the file using RIOT or check "Import ancillary data" if used within IrfanView.

I wonder if you can help me... transfering metadata from TIF to JPG during conversion is exactly what I need to do. I have 800+ TIF files with EXIF data added to each one by hand... I need to convert to JPG without loosing EXIF information. I installed IV and the RIOT plug-in 4.2 on Windows XP SP3.
                1. I have a TIF file with EXIF data... file size is about 32Mb.
                2. I can view the TIF file with IV and RIOT.
                3. The check box for "Remove EXIF profile" is not-checked.
                4. "Import ancillary data from original file" is checked.
                5. I choose "save" and select a new location to create a JPG file... about 6Mb... very good.
                6. The JPG file does not have any EXIF data... oh no!

Can you tell me please what am I missing?

                Thank You,

RIOT is not able to transfer EXIF from TIFF to JPEG.

Maybe this will be possible in the future.
