I am running Win XP SP2 and Irfanview 3.97 and when I try to open a JPG with Chinese characters in the name I get the error "Can't read file header, unknown file format" but other programs will open the file just fine and if I change the file name so that it has only English characters then Irfanview opens it without problem.

unicode plugin
That is, what I also want to say you!
See the following two screenshots:
(To enlarge click on the pictures!)
You can read, it's a "Basic Unicode support"!
It is possible that is not a full support!
What it means exactly concerning the program IrfanView, knows only the author of the Unicode Plugin!!Last edited by Frank; 08.09.2008, 07:26 AM.

This is now under Options>Properties>Language.
Check the check box: "Load Unicode Plugin at program start (for file names with non-latin characters)"
There is a nice write up on this in the Help FAQs with a nice link.
Good job people. I hope you smile 25 times today :-)Geoffrey -- IV4.28, gs8.54APFL, PostScript.dll 4.27
