A planar CMYK TIFF (in two strips) with FillOrder 1 results in a near-black image as though it is being treated as RGB without conversion or channels are being inverted.
Could you provide a zipped example file?
I guess you know it is not so easy to convert CMYK to get good results.
But near-black is too bad (depending on the image content).
