    Windows 7 x64 UAC issues

I am having some stability problems with Irfanview as well as the following.

I'm used to browsing from Total Commander ( the file manager) and under Win 7 I'm getting a UAC prompt on EVERY image. I could understand the first image, but this should not happen every time. I have IV set to use only one instance.

Is there some way to fix this, or does IV have to be modified to behave with Win 7?

It might not be an IrfanView problem per se. Are there issues with opening files associated with other (non-Microsoft) programs from TC? I know that Win7 has a more complicated (and somewhat buggish) UAC. It might be that the problem is one program's call to another. Can you open files directly through IrfanView's Open dialog without nagging?

If it were me, I would do what I am doing with Vista. I turned off UAC immediately. I do all my everyday work in a non-admin user account, with Sysinternals' ShellRunas extension installed. A good firewall makes me feel much more secure than any of Microsoft's half-baked monkeyshines.

How do you check if you don't have any software that does that?

I know that being a sensible user helps a lot (in facts, in more than 10 years I never got a virus), but installing an antivirus application is always a wise idea.

Nothing, not even sense -- which I don't see much of -- will keep a worm from just walking in any time it likes.
