Question Irfanview equivolent for the Mac

I really enjoy Irfanview and know it is mainly a Win OS program and that it's likely to stay that way. I also have to use a Mac at times, but iPhoto is 2 wheels short of the wagon I want . Can anyone recommend an image viewer and manipulator of Irfanview quality and ability for the Mac that isn't a Photoshop monster?

    You can now use IrfanView!
    Try WineBottler

This free software is a wrapper for WINE, which unlike other Windows emulators is really simple to set up.
    It just works.

1- download WineBottler from the above site, and install it.
2- Download the latest version of IrfanView (4.25)
3- Start WineBottler and Create a Custom Prefix
4- For the Install File, select the IrfanView installation file you just downloaded
5- In the Winetricks section select vc6run
    6- Click Install

You'll then see a standard Windows installation - follow the prompts.
BTW- at the end there's a pop-up, from which you should select ivew32.exe as the executable to run. Obvious but worth mentioning.

That's it! WineBottler generates an Irfanview App that can by launched like any Mac App.

    Caveats
    WineBottler is Beta, so ymmv
You must have an Intel Mac - mine is a mid 2009 MacBook Pro running OS X10.6.2
X11 must be installed (it is by default on Snow Leopard)

    Hope this helps

    Cheers from Oz

@Bill: this is great, thank you.
Is it possible to set IrfanView as the default picture viewer on the Mac?

Thanks for giving the list BUT... are ALL of these Mac programs? Some I recall as PC only. Also I just said no iPhoto or Photoshop.

Concerning Winebottler: I have a faster model Mac G3... definately not Intel.

ALL these programs are available for Mac! (Maybe for PC also! See the details, see the links!!!)
And you are right, you said: no iPhoto or Photoshop!
(Thats why I ask you deeply for apology and for forgiveness that I called these programs in my list!)

But perhaps it's better, if you(!) really search for some suitable programs in the internet and tell us your search results and the best program! If however all nothing helps, then it's time for you to contact Steve Jobs or someone else of the company Apple to ask there for the best picture viewer for macintosh! These people sit at the source and can answer at the best one! If you are a very lucky man, then their named programs are also freeware!

    best regards

    Bill,
Any reason you didn't just install windows under Boot Camp and install irfanviewer that way? (aside from the possibility of opening up your computer to windows viruses)

Default Thank you for the hint.

Thank you for the tip. With this advice the question of when will IrfanView be available on the Mac has been answered. It is here and available now. Thanks once again.

    how does this work??

5- In the Winetricks section select vc6run

there is no way to enter any text in the box in the Winetricks section, nor is there a list displayed to select form

I know Winebottler is installed correctly because a preinstalled prefix named Winamp created a link that correctly runs Winamp on my Mac OS 10 computer
