Saving a editted photo without having black borders?

I'm sorry for the very basic question but I've toyed around a bit and haven't been able to figure it out.

I use Irfanview to view/crop photos but them when I save them they have all the black space as well. How can I save just the picture without the black surroundings? I did try searching but nothing came up.

    -thanks

Welcome to the Forum, Jonoman92. This is the place to ask questions (and give answers), so do not be apologetic!

To correctly understand your issue: when you paste the image (with the black border) into, say Word, do you still see a black border?

If No, then it is IrfanView's background that gives your image the Black border.

And if Yes, you can quickly Auto-Crop your image by Control+Shift+Y. Note that you can crop a Single Color alone, using Control+Shift+Y...

Trust that takes care of your issue!
