Installation of IrfanView V4.25 in Windows 7

Since I've been using Irfanview for years, my heart sank when I tried to install v4.25 in Windows 7 and recieved this error:

    C:\...........\IrfanView 4.25\iview425_setup.exe is not a valid Win32 application.

I hope there is a fix for this. Please help!

Welcome to the Forum, michaeljamesmiller. We have a few Windows 7 Users here in the Forum and none of them have reported your error though!

The message you're getting ('...not a valid Win32 application...') is typical when you have a corrupted/ incomplete Setup File. I ran IrfanView 4.25 for many months on Windows 7 RC (Ultimate) and it not only ran without a single crash, it was also noticeably faster than on Win XPP!

    Try
    1. Downloading from a different location (from the list on IrfanView Website)
    2. Using your old setup file to install on a different machine running WinXP/ Vista

    Best of Luck!

      Hi michaeljamesmiller,

      WellOiledPC has right!
      Try another download location!

Personally I always use the download location of the university of Vienna!
(Irfan is an graduate of the Vienna University of Technology and so it looks very official.)

      http://www.irfanview.com/
      http://www.irfanview.com/main_download_engl.htm
Scroll down and select Other download sites (Mirrors)!
And then scroll down again and choose the english version!
