How to view Canon .mts files?

    Hello all,

I have Canon HF100 video camera which records in AVCHD format, producing files with MTS extension. I'm using VideoLan VLC to view the files on the PC.
Does anyone know how to view .mts in IV? Is there a way to tell IV simply to launch VLC?

    Regards,

I just found out (by chance) that there's an "IrfanView Multimedia player, "hidden" behind Options->Start Multimedia player (plugin).
That MMplayer does not recognize .mts as a video file format, but when forced to open the file, it plays the content pretty good, although only in 640x480 resolution.

Q1: would it be possible to automatically launch MMplayer for mts-extension, ie. from TN-viewer?
Q2: is there a possiblity to convince MMplayer to use the full resolution of the mts-file?

    (some time later...)

I just installed the latest version 4.27 (with plugins) and - Q1 is already solved!
The only adjustment was Properties->Video->use external player

Q2 remains open - MMplayer is convinced that mts-file has a resolution of 640x480 - and it definitely does not

Q3: Win7 can show Thumbnailsl for mts-files. Could IV do it as well?

    Regards,
