White Background to Grey with Batch Resize vs Manual Resize

    Hello,

I am trying to resize a large group of 8-bit bmp files to 80% (help manual screenshots basically), and keep them at 8 bit.

I tried the Batch Resize, but all the converted files are now 24-bit, and any white area is now tinted grey (what was 255/255/255 is 254/254/254).

When I manually resized the file, I still got the grey tint, but the file remained 8-bit.

    My question is this:

    - is there a way to resize my 8-bit bmp files to 80% of their size, maintain the bit depth and not get the grey tinted background?

I have over 200 of these so doing it in a batch would be preferable that manually.

    Thanks!

    Hi geekgrr,

Resizing involves colour interpolation, so an 8 bpp image may result in a 24 bpp image.
In Advanced options, try to disable "Use resample function" and/or set Change color depth to 256 colors.
