Solved Huge RAM leak

I stumbled across a nasty bug that makes IrfanView a memory hog.
Here are the steps to replicate it:
- have Task Manager - or any other memory manager - started
- open a JPG image
- show Paint dialog (F12)
- select a small area (some 100x30 px)
- click inside area to full zoom it
- select the Text tool
- click to insert a small letter (8 pt or so)
- click Ok
- click Undo

IrfanView is now starting to eat RAM like crazy - see Task Manager - even after Undo operation eventually finishes (some 20 seconds later on my laptop)

Please let me know how to fix this bug.

Cannot reproduce. Undo is not available until the paint dialogue is closed. Ctrl Z performs the undo instantly. Check your View, Display settings for resample when zooming.

Your issue description was clear enough, but I did not get the undo option with the Paint Toolbar open, and I could not reproduce the issue. Maybe someone else can.

As I suggested before, its the resampling that is causing the problem. Turn it off. if you zoom in 1000% the entire image is resampled at that zoom level.

yes, you were right.
but sadly the resampling in zoom mode is turned on by default and many users could have similar issues...
