JPEGs can't be saved lossless.
Just JPEG2000, but the routines have to be licensed.

PhotoPlus can save JPG images as lossless — but not many programs can, which results in lots of support questions as people don't even know about Lossless JPG.

Also, the PNG version is often smaller, so there is very little benefit in supporting Lossless JPG.

In most cases smaller, but PNG cannot hold all EXIF and aditional data and even exported in external (XMP+IPTC data) sidecar files, JPG vs. PNG+2 sidecar files. Your choice.

What type of EXIF data is the PNG format unable to hold? Here's a PNG example, with EXIF, IPTC and XMP data contained in one file. The EXIF information was created by the digital camera, so obviously not all possible fields have been used. Same with IPTC and XMP. Besides, XMP is just plaintext XML attached at the end of the file, so it can be attached to anything.
