Save puts files in folder I can't find

This is a real annoyance to me and I don't know why it is happening.

I work on my files and save them to a normal file in 'my pictures'. When I search for them later with windows 7 explorer they are not in the file I saved them in. If I open Irfanview they are there.

How have I stuffed this up?

Just a guess:

Maybe because you have a "library folder" that redirects to another folder than the originally "my picture" folder. Just a guess.

Can you provide any screnshots?
