Problem: EPS colours are smoothed out

    Hi all,

I have a problem with the way IrfanView + PS plugin render eps pictures: the colours are smoothed out, like this:

Name:	irfanview.png
Views:	1
Size:	111.6 KB
ID:	84578

whereas the eps picture should look like this (which is how it is rendered by ghostview or xnview):

Name:	xnview.png
Views:	1
Size:	14.0 KB
ID:	84579

I've tried to modify the Properties/Settings --> PlugIns --> Postscript options, and other options like Viewing or Color management, but to no avail. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make IrfanView render the colour eps properly?

Thank you in advance for your help!

    setup:
    IrfanView + plugins v. 4.35
    Windows 7 Pro 32-bit
    ghostscript GPL 9.06

I already tried, to no avail:
      - disabling/enabling antialiasing
      - changing dpi
      - changing paper size (silly, I know, but you never know...)
      - changing the version of the ghostscript library used
      - enable/disable 'use resample for fitting'
      - enable/disable 'load half size image', automatic/camera white balance, color management, gamma corrections...

I attach an eps image on which you can test this yourself. This is how IrfanView displays it:

Name:	iv.PNG
Views:	1
Size:	222.3 KB
ID:	80858

This is how Ghostview or XnView displays it:

Name:	xnv.PNG
Views:	1
Size:	11.6 KB
ID:	80859

      Thank you again!

I can confirm your results in IrfanView and XnView.

PagePlus — a DTP application — opens it like XnView
DrawPlus — a Vector Drawing application — opens it like IrfanView.
CorelDraw 9 — opens it like XnView without reporting any postscript errors.

How sure are you that this is a valid file, and how did you produce it?

          Thank you for confirming this.

The eps picture was produced and saved as eps by Matlab, and each of its 9 squares should by design have a uniform colour, as displayed by ghostview, XnView, PagePlus, CorelDraw (unless Matlab is saving eps in a wrong way).

I hope someone will be able to help me fix this strange rendering by IrfanView.

          Thank you!
