    Exclamation GIF Display Error

    Hi,

Having trouble viewing 2 gifs in Irfanview, they look fine in Opera, IE 10 and the Win 8 Photos app. I don't have any problems with any other gif.

Do these 2 not conform to the gif standard? (This is why I posted in Support instead of Bug Report)

    Here they are:

Any way to make them look right?

    Thanks.

Its either a bug, or a feature that IrfanView doesn't support yet. I have forwarded the images to Irfan Skiljan.

I got a reply from Irfan:
    Maybe later — no promises.
Its not really a bug — as I suspected — just that IrfanView doesn't support all possible transparency options.

Thanks for checking, good to hear it's not a bug.

Irfan did some more research on these images: Here is his reply:

Ok, I did some research and both of your GIFs are bad!

The one GIF uses the global GIF header and sets BPP to 1 ... which is idiotic, the correct value is 8.

The other GIF uses correct BPP value (4) but sets the transparent color index to 16, which is bad ... the index is zero based, means the max. value can be 15.
    ----

I added some strict checks few versions ago to avoid overflows and such idiotic GIFs, creaded by drunken guys/programs won't be torelated anymore
