Reported File renaming during batch conversion does not work correctly

I've a big music library and wanted to resize the folder.jpg in each folder to a max. size. The picture should stay in the same folder. Unfotunately this does not work because the renaming function is converting the ":" after the drive letter to a "_" - see attached screenshot (irfanview01.jpg).
I'm using the most recent irfanview distribution 4.38 and have Windows 7 professional 64bit SP1 installed (German distribution). Regional settings Swiss German (default). For the batch conversion settings please see screenshot (irfanview02.jpg).

Yes, this has come up before and I think Irfan Skiljan was contacted about it. I cannot remember why but it is not possible to use $D in the name pattern. Try using $N_new for the name pattern and $D for the Output directory.

Hi, Mij thank you for your answer and Suggestion - but this is exactly what is not working. See attached screenshot, I've used $D$N_new. But it seems that the renaming function is somehow converting the : into a _. So a driveletter with a _ instead of : will not work. Hope the developper of the programm will have an answer on this.

Read it again talisker.
Do not put $D in the Name pattern box, put it into Output directory - the box below.

What Mij suggested, works fine for me. Use $D for the output directory, not in name pattern (that adds the full path to the file names, hence the problem with colons, that can not be used in file names ...).
