I use IrfanView for anything that is related to pictures, be they photos, screenshots, logos, etc. I found a few days ago that the JPG Lossless Transformations may be used to change DPI information without resampling the image - I want to change the DPI so the pictures are inserted with the expected dimensions in Word or any other application that treat images as having dimensions/density. It works smoothly.
I looked in the help to see if it can be used from the command line, and it does.
The help states, in Example for /jpg_rotate=(options): options = all 8 options from the JPG lossless dialog. It seems to me this was OK a few versions ago, because with version 4.53 I count more than 8 options:
I can't find the arguments for jpg_rotate to set the DPI for a JPG. Can you help?
These lines do not change the file's DPI:
i_view32.exe c:\test.jpg /jpg_rotate=(0,0,1,0,1,300,0,0) (8 arguments between parenthesis)
i_view32.exe c:\test.jpg /jpg_rotate=(0,0,1,1,1,1,0,1,600,0,1,0)
i_view32.exe c:\test.jpg /jpg_rotate=(0,0,1,0,1,1,0,1,200,1,0,0)

- Transformation
- Rebuild EXIF thumbnail
- "Perfect" transformation only
- Optimize JPG file
- Make progressive JPG file
- Apply original EXIF date/time to new file
- Keep current file date/time
- Set DPI
- Write JFIF marker
- Marker option
