Reported  batch rename fails with 4.25

    Hi,

I have been hoping for a new version of IrfanView for some time now.

Since I got 4.25 I have not been able to rename my files any more Other people have reportet bugs with EXIF data - it might have something to do with that.

I have som jpg-files from my camera and they have exif-data (attachment 1).

For years I have just opened IrfanView and asked for a rename to the timestamp - using $E36867.jpg as rename pattern. Simply because I had had the problem that pictures suddently had equal names when I want to save them on the same CD.

But now it result in the name .jpg ... not $E36867.jpg as a textsting, so I know the $E36867 pattern still works - It is just not posible to find the timestamp anymore (I have tried on to different computers).

    What else could I try??

Anyone who have an older version that I could install instead?

    Best Regards
    Susanne

      Hello Susanne,

which version is the exif.dll? Please have a look at Help / Installed plugins... there is a big list of the installed plugins and their version.
If the exif.dll version is lower than 4.25 you might have some problems.

Please test also this: in the settings dialog got to the "Full screen" section and in the "Show text" box append $E36867. Click ok, open a picture and press Enter to display it in full screen. Which text is shown?

If the exif.dll version is correct and you still have this problem, please uninstall IrfanView, reboot your computer and check, that the IrfanView folder in your programs directory ("C:\Prorgam files" on english Windows) does not exist. If it exist, delete it.
Install IrfanView and the plugins again.

I just renamed an image sucessfully.

      Best regards, Nils.

        Hi - thanx Nils!!

I didn't even think about it. Just had a new computer and saw that it was a new version of Irfanview - and blamed the softwareversion.

... and thanks to WellOiledPC for answering my question
