Reported IrFanView dies when scanning

I am trying to use a virtual twain compliant scanner.

When scanning from a particular twain scanner, I get the following message:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

Runtime Error!

Program:C:\Program Files\IrfanView\i_view32.exe

abnormal program termination

[OK]

.......does anyone know where I can begin to look for the problem?

IrFanView works on all other scanners except this one.
