    Reported Thumbnail previews are non-existant

    Hi,
I'm having a problem with IrfranView, using Windows Vista Basic.

I have many hundreds of pictures on my hard drive, but searching through them has - seemingly overnight - become very difficult, as I can't seem to get previews in the thumbnail icons. So when I open a folder, I just get hundreds and hundreds of images of that red cat thing.

    Anyone have any ideas?

Check the folder options, if it has changed from "Pictures" to "Documents". Or just have a look if you placed an other file into that folder, maybe a word document.
For the folder type check, right click the folder with the mouse, select "Properties" and swithc to the "Customize" tab. Here you should have "Pictures" or "Photo Album" selected.

Thanks for that, just checked and it's set to "Pictures and Video", the only other options being "Documents", "Music Details" and "Music Icons". The plot thickens?

"Picture and Videos" is what it is called in Vista. Also in Windows Explorer Tools > Folder Options >View Tag make sure that you do not have Always show icons, never thumbnails checked.
Remember too that Vista does not always update and display thumbnails instantly. It does it in the background when it has time.

Ah wow, thanks! The "Always show icons, never thumbnails" thing was checked, it has now been unchecked and everything's great. Thanks a lot for that.
