Win7 (x64) - Irfanview loads very very slowly!

I have been using Infranview for *years* going all the way back to Windows 98. Currently using version 4.30. It's always opened up images very fast. Since I've had Windows 7 I've noticed it takes like 2-3 seconds for even small images to load (even less than 100KB), and when I close an image, either explicitly by hitting [x] or by hitting the Esc key, it also takes 2-3 seconds to finish closing! One thing I did notice is that the actual image will open very fast, but it seems to take the rest of the time to load the status bar at the bottom that has the information such as resolution, BPP, size, date, time, etc. I have the latest Infranview and did not install any special plugins nor change any of the default program settings. BTW when my machine ran Windows Vista I had no problems at all (exact same motherboard, video card, memory, CPU, etc.) It is AMD Black Edition Dual Core (3.1GHz), 4GB RAM, Radeon HD 4550 GPU, plenty of HDD space. I searched through every option to see if there was a way to disable that info from being displayed on the bottom of the image, but I couldn't find a way. Could this be slowing down Infranview? It displayed this info also in Windows Vista and that didn't slow it down so I suspect it is something specific to Windows 7. Any ideas? I'd hate to stop using Infranview after 10+ years, but this is really starting to get annoying as I'm now doing more photography.
