I noticed that I was not able to add single files into the list, yet when more than one is selected it, it adds them, the single file behavior is it adds nothing and drops the filename, unless that was the intention but I doubt it, this may or may not be related to another issue which involves slideshow creation and is elsewhere listed. I am using version 4.60 of Irfanview, Win 7 64 bit.

Can't reproduce. I can add individual files without problems.

When I attempt to add using the button, it does what I described, it adds them (single files) when dragging a file in, this might be a Windows 7 user problem.
