Old versions of IrfanView wrote comments in ANSI. New versions write comments only in Unicode.
I have a lot of images with ANSI comments. Yes, I may set the option "Old comment is ANSI" and my old comments are displayed correctly.
But if I edit them -- they re-saved in Unicode, and thus displayed as garbage until I switch the option to "Old comment is Unicode".
The "Automatic" value for this option in most cases works incorrectly.
Thus I always have to choose this option for almost every file to see comments correctly.
To fix this I either have to:
My suggestion: add an option that controls how the comments saved -- "ANSI" or "Unicode".
Thank you.

To fix this I either have to:
- Convert all comments to Unicode. This is not desirable because many other utilities use ANSI. And I haven't found an application which may convert all comments in batch.
- Do not add comments using IrfanView. Or do not use IrfanView for viewing. It is not desirable too...
