    Requested Separate Background for GIFs

    Hi

I use IrfanView for most pictures with the only exception being GIF. It's because the background. For the other pictures I set a very dark gray (almost black) background, but GIFs (and PNGs) most usually need white. Can it be done already, i. e. did I miss something? If no, could a manual or an automatic (extension-sensitive) background color change be somehow implemented in a future IrfanView?

    Hi,

    welcome here

    Try that:

Open IrfanView press key "p", goto "Viewing" and click on the "Choose" button at "Main window color".

If you don't want the background showing through, open Properties/Settings, uncheck "Show transparency in non-animated GIFs too" in the JPG/PCD/GIF tab, and uncheck "Show PNG alpha/transparent color" in Viewing. Then their background will have its own color.
      Its: Belongs to "It"
It's: Shortened form of "It is"
      ---------------------
      Lose: Fail to keep
      Loose: Not tight

      ---------------------
      Plurals do not require apostrophes

Thanks, this works for PNG an non-animated GIFs, so it's better, but it's still not enough for animated GIFs, their background is still dark gray, which I'd like to keep because of the other formats.

        Any solutions?
